Brian Finneran Out

Brian FinneranThe Atlanta Falcons learned today that receiver Brian Finneran is out for the season after tearing up his left knee in practice. Finneran went down during a practice July 30.

The receiver shrieked in pain as he tried to cut to his left on a crossing route, and coach Jim Mora said afterward that it looked serious.

Williams Inks Deal

The Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms with their final 2006 draft selection. Agreeing to terms was second-round draft choice, CB Jimmy Williams (No. 37 overall). Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.

Williams, 6-2, 216 pounds, started 39 of 53 games in his four-year career at Virginia Tech. He became a mainstay in the Hokies secondary after making a successful adjustment from free safety to boundary cornerback as a junior.

Falcons Ink Drafts

The Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms today with three of their 2006 draft selections. Agreeing to terms were fifth-round draft choice T Quinn Ojinnaka (No. 139 overall), sixth-round draft selection WR Adam Jennings (No. 184 overall) and seventh-round draft choice QB D.J. Shockley (No. 223 overall). Terms of the contracts were not announced by the team.
